Our road to a COVIDSafe open
It's so close we can almost smell Eddie's Roast! It doesn't matter what your reading, watching or listening to today, eating out again is the talk of the town! What's really exciting for us, is that it's not just cafes and restaurants, but Clubs are now also able to welcome back Members and guests for a meal, so we thought we would update you on your Club's road to open!

So can I come down to the Club today? This fantastic news has come a little earlier than expected, and the team here are all working hard to get your Club ready for a COVIDSafe open as soon as we are able. It is important to note that reopening the Club will take some careful consideration, to ensure that when we open our doors we are ready to not only provide you with a tasty Club Classic meal and a beer from the tap, but that we are providing you with an experience that makes you feel safe - because it is. The way we do things needs to be a little different, and it is critical that we get it right, keep you all safe, and remain open.

So before Eddie fires up the kitchen, we need to complete our COVIDSafe procedures and training, in the meantime we are doing some housekeeping, rearranging the furniture and Eddie is planning the menu!

What can I do at the Club when it's open? When we are able to open our doors it will be in a limited capacity. At this stage we are only able to provide dine in and take away. So as we work toward opening up table bookings for 10 patrons at a time, we are also preparing to provide take away from Cafe Brass and the Club Bistro with Bottle Shop specials also available!

There is much to look forward to as bit by bit we are able to enjoy some time out of our homes, with our friends and family. But we all must play our part in doing what is required of us, by continuing to practice social distancing, good hygiene, and to stay home if we feel unwell.

So when are you opening? Your Club will be open as soon as we ready to provide you with a welcoming COVIDSafe experience. It won't be long now, and we thank you for your patience as we prepare for the first stage of being 'OPEN'!

Keep an eye on your emails, social media and our website for our Dine & Take Away 'OPEN' day!

Whilst we are still unable to serve as meeting place for friends and family to connect, we wanted you to know that your Club is supporting the Community in other ways that are necessary.

The NSW Health Sydney Local Health District has called upon our community to help them contain the Covid epidemic.

To play our part in keeping our Community safe, you're Club is providing the Canterbury Road carpark as a facility for a drive-through
COVID-19 testing clinic.

Anyone with symptoms can be tested – including a runny nose, sore throat, cough, fever or other flu like symptoms. You don’t have to have travelled overseas to be tested.

ENTRY & TESTING IS AVAILABLE FOR THE NEXT FEW WEEKS in the multi-story car park via Wattle Lane (not within the Club)

"I would like to thank our Canterbury Community for their support during our response to COVID-19.

I would like to particularly like to thank the Canterbury-Hurlstone Park RSL Club for supporting our team to set up a Drive-Through COVID-19 Testing Clinic in the Club’s car park, to make testing easier for our community. "

Kiel Harvey, General Manager
Canterbury Hospital.

TEMPORARY CLUB CLOSURE (23 MARCH 2020)

Dear Members,

As you are undoubtedly aware, last night the Prime Minister Scott Morrison announced that from midday today additional restrictions have been placed on non-essential gatherings in a bid to slow the rapid spread of coronavirus in Australia.

This restriction applies to all pubs, clubs, restaurants, cinemas and indoor sporting venues across the country.

What this means to our Members is that unfortunately your Club, Canterbury-Hurlstone Park RSL closed from midday today, until further notice.

I would like to assure you that following the mandate applied to internal venues on social distancing last week, your Club vigilantly followed all the guidelines. We would like to thank all the Members and guests for their cooperation over this weekend, your commitment to each other as a community is commendable.

Unfortunately it appears that not all venues were able to manage the situation to an acceptable level, and therefore the government had no choice but to elevate restrictions to further manage the risk in the community.

In the meantime, your health and wellbeing and that of our staff remains our highest priority, please continue to look after yourselves and your families.

Over the coming days and weeks we will keep in touch, and will continue to share information to help our community during this difficult time.

Please keep informed with information you can trust, below are some reputable sources for information and support. We look forward to welcoming you all back in the not too distant future.

Yours Sincerely,

Dean Thomas
Chief Executive Officer
