On an overcast Sunday morning 38 Bowlers and 11 non bowlers boarded the coach at CHP RSL for our away trip to Albion Park B.C. 6 members went by car Peter Mueller and Sylvia Gurewitz won the gift vouchers on the coach.
We had a minutes silence in memory of Margaret Osborne and Jean Pryor both who are so badly missed. We arrived at approx 10.45am and were warmly welcomed by Bowls Organiser Mick Depurez . It was not raining and the green keeper was working to have the greens ready for play by 1pm weather permitting, we had morning tea and relaxed some played cards poker machines or just had a natter. There was a minutes silence observed at 12noon in memory of the people who lost their lives one year ago in the Melbourne bush fires. A nice baked dinner lunch was served at approx 12.30pm .
Bowls Organiser Mick assisted by Assistant Secretary Thelma called the cards at 1pm then Murphy’s Law arrived and it started to rain which delayed our play by another 30 minutes it was extremely hot and humid but there was no more rain and we played until 3pm. Assistant Secretary Thelma said she hoped we had all enjoyed our day and had a separate prize for our non bowlers who support us so well the winner this time was Betty Bennie.
Travelling Bowls Secretary Arthur thanked CHPRSL for coming and hoped we would come back again he also thanked Thelma for all her help. President Margaret thanked Albion Park for a lovely day and also thanked Dennis our driver for looking after us so well.Thank you also to Bowls Organiser Mick.Travelling Bowls Secretary Arthur and Ladies President Jan. President Jan responded on behalf of Albion Park she hoped we had a lovely day because they did and safe journey home.
The coach left at 4pm President Margaret reminded members that we are going back to Woy Woy for our away trip this year as we were unable to secure an affordable alternative down South but we need members to advise if they will be going as we need to fill the coach to make it worth our while.
