CHP RSL Golf News Bardwell Valley Golf Course Round 12

Today was the second round of the CHP Social Golf Club’s Championships and 31 players line up for the round of golf around the Bardwell Valley Golf Club course and the first hole is a very challenging and daunting hit over the Valley with a few golf balls gone missing right from the start. Love it or hate it, the course is the home for several of our members which are always challenged by its tight fairways and well positioned greens as most found the course today, while others cursed the old tip of years past as they just played rubbish.

Today’s Stroke winner was Raj Asawa ,1st  on nett 54, the run-away winner, and miles in front (losing fIve shots from his handicap for his effort) from 2nd placed  Edith McVicar on nett 59, from Bob Connell , 3rd on nett 60 with Laurie McMartin , 4th  on nett 63 and making up the top five was  Ron Williamson 5th on nett 65.  The championships totals will be posted by Keith Johnson after checking of cards but the unofficial leaders are A Grade: Sione Mahe,  B Grade: Bob Connell and C Grade: Peter Deady.

Memorable Moments
There were some good scoring at the front of the field and some perfect 10’s at the rear with Roger producing his first air swing in years and a “10” after his ball came to rest leaning against a large tree and having to play a shot left handed with the back of a club, but Roger is too good a player not to come back strong in the next round. Rob McDougall lost three balls on the first hole and was thankful for the two he won in the nearest the pins comp. Johnny Parsell turned his nearest the pin shot on the 18th into a birdie with an arching putt which was turning into an 85 footer by the time of the presentation or was that a 8.5 footer.

It was good to have Eric back playing again and welcome to Frank Aoake who joined us for today game.

Good Golfing next round at Macarthur Grange Country Club 8th August, at 7.00am Raby Rd, Kearns 18 holes,  par 70 , 5503 metres long (Pro shop ph no# 9820 4599).

Remember the next game is not part of the Championships but a Four Ball Ambrose Event with Keith to provide further details later on rules and teams with top 8 and bottom 8 in club in teams with remainder of teams drawn from hat.
